TEAM AND ROLE OVERVIEW

The Agri-Field Officer is being recruited, in a full-time position, to be a part of the aQysta Malawi team.

The Agri-Field Officer will work closely with aQysta’s Agri-business team to train farmers in Grown Farm Incubator while being located near the farming community.

The Agri-Field Officer will eventually evolve as an agricultural expert at aQysta and will strengthen the scientific farming knowledge of the company.

You will work with the smallholder farmers and support them to achieve the set goal in terms of commercial agricultural production.

As such, the Agri-Field Officer will be at the heart of aQysta’s mission of empowering smallholder farmers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop knowledge on scientific farming (crop calendars, farming manuals) for selected crops to increase yield and profitability

  • Selection of farmers to participate in the company’s farming activities

  • Closely monitor the progress of farming activities

  • Manage and motivate farmers to strong participation

  • Collect and analyze data related to agriculture intervention programs of aQysta (monitoring and evaluation)

BACKGROUND

  • At a minimum, holds a bachelor’s degree in agri-business, agriculture, agronomy, or related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in working in the agriculture, agri-business, agriculture value chain, or related sector.

  • Hands-on experience working in farming, Production Planning, and training

  • Knowledge and experience of agri-business practices with smallholder farmers.

  • Ability to motivate and manage farmers.

  • Good communication skills to communicate with diverse stakeholders ranging from farmers and international colleagues.

  • Willingness to travel is highly required. Willingness to locate in a town near to focus cluster is highly preferred.

  • Intrinsic motivation to contribute to making smallholder farming profitable.

  • A driving license will be a plus.

  • Knowledge about IT platforms is preferred
